In the historical novel, Fever 1793, Mattie, a 16 year-old resident of Philadelphia, struggles for survival during the Yellow Fever Epidemic that tore through the city that summer. The tale covers 4 months of her life but a lifetime in her maturity. She goes from a typical girl trying to avoid chores to a young woman taking charge of the family business.
